Sabahattin Ali Stories
This project was designed for a reading of Sabahattin Ali’s stories.
Turkish novelist, short-story writer, poet, and journalist Sabahattin Ali is recognized as the most powerful and effective 20th-century short-story writers in Turkey. He was assassinated for his political opinions and known for his courageous engagement with themes like the individual in society and gender.
Dreamogram / I Mean It Creative approached this project with an iconographic cut-out illustration, playing with themes of self-reflection and gender. The image of the wind blowing words as the leaves off a tree can be interpreted as a nod at one of Ali’s most famous quotes: “Why can’t we walk quietly side by side, on windy autumn evenings, and listen to our souls talking?”
